Industry News – Blockchain is beefing up IoT infrastructure security

1월 7, 2019

The Internet of things (IoT) is playing an increasingly influential role in our lives – continuous innovation means it’s very difficult to remain disconnected with technology. But all of this new tech in our lives brings dangers, like the risk of cyber attacks that can take out IoT infrastructure and cause economic and personal harm.

Luckily IoT is looking to blockchain to help secure connected devices and their users. While blockchain rose to prominence in the fintech world by facilitating the digital payment revolution, the technology is starting to play a vital role in beefing up cyber security, especially in the IoT space.

A blockchain-based cybersecurity platform is able to secure connected devices through digital signatures to identify and authenticate them, adding them as authorised participants in the blockchain network and ring-fencing critical infrastructure by rendering them immune to bogus access attempts. Each authenticated device joining the blockchain-based secure IoT network is treated as a participating entity, just like in a conventional blockchain network. All communication among these verified participants (IoT devices) are cryptographically secure and are stored in tamper-proof logs.
